The annual inflation rate tempered in August to 8.02 percent, as analysts had expected, due to lower prices for services, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Inflation peaked in July to a 9.04 percent three-year high. In June, inflation amounted to 8.61 percent. Analysts interviewed by news agency NewsIn were estimating a 7.7-8.44 percent inflation for August. Compared to July, consumer prices went down 0.99 percent, due to a 0.9 percent decline in services prices. Non-food prices stagnated, while food prices registered a mild increase, 0.2 percent, according to INS data. Energy prices were idle, while fuels prices declined by 0.77 percent. Cigarettes became 0.98 percent more expensive month-on-month. (NewsIn)
