Media de masa care include ansamblul mijloacelor de informare scrise, principalele grupe fiind: presa cotidiana (nationala, regionala sau locala), publicatiile periodice (reviste/magazine saptamanale sau lunare), presa gratuita, presa tehnica si profesionala s.a. Inglobeaza, de asemenea, presa vorbita (informatiile radio), presa audiovizuala (jurnalul televizat, engl. - audiovisual media), presa electronica (online/web publishing, webzine s.a.).

Caracteristici ale suporturilor de presa:

Ca suport promotional de masa, presa scrisa prezinta un atu puternic: vizualizare si argumentatie - prin ilustratie si text (permanenta cuvantului scris da o forta mai mare comunicarii). Prezinta si avantajul ca actiunile promotionale pot fi bine directionate in profil geografic - pe segmente tinta de cititori. Elaborarea campaniei depinde de criterii socio-demografice si socioculturale ale segmentului-tinta de audienta, de posibilitatile de vizualizare a ofertei, de mediul redactional s.a. Este utilizata si ca suport media purtator – in diverse actiuni promotionale: esantioane, doze de incercare (sampling), bonuri/cupoane de reducere, pliante, brosuri etc, inserate in ziare si reviste de specialitate s.a.

Ansamblu complex de publicatii imprimate, activitati jurnalistice, institutii specifice, impreuna cu modul de organizare si de functionare, legaturile cu celelalte institutii si cu societatea, in general.
