Razboi al preturilor

Concurenta prin pret; situatie in care o firma cauta sa castige o cota de piata cat mai mare prin practicarea unor preturi inferioare celor ale concurentei, care reactioneaza asemanator, creandu-se un adevarat cerc vicios.

Atunci cand o firma doreste sa evite razboiul cu concurenta la nivelul pretului, ea va cauta sa se infrunte pe alte planuri, cum ar fi: produsul, publicitatea, promovarea vanzarilor (cadouri, prime) s.a. Situarea magazinelor in apropierea locului de consum si deschiderea de reprezentante si filiale ale producatorului, pentru a servi mai bine piata, pot constitui, de asemenea, o baza pentru competitia in afara pretului; formele cele mai importante ale acestei competitii raman insa mijloacele promotionale.

Exemple de competitie in afara pretului:

- diferentierea produsului - prin aceasta actiune se evita comparatia de pret cu produsele competitive apartinand concurentei; producatorul poate face dificile comparatiile privind pretul accentuand asupra unor inovatii minore (variante multiple de produs, ambalaje diferite s.a.), care perturba perceperea pretului exact de consumatori;

- servicii conexe - credit, expeditie gratuita, acceptarea restituirii produselor cumparate, instalare gratuita, garantie, piese de schimb etc.

- publicitatea - este un mijloc important de influentare a cumparatorilor (prin persuasiune). Este o modalitate de actiune mai greu de imitat pe termen scurt (reactia concurentei poate fi si ea intarziata).
