Ansamblu de actiuni si mijloace cu caracter non-comercial direct pe care o firma/o organizatie le elaboreaza, le pune in aplicare si le urmareste in practica, in vederea asigurarii unei politici permanente de informare si comunicare eficienta cu publicul, crearea unei atitudini si imagini pozitive - atat in interiorul organizatiei, cat si in afara acesteia - asupra institutiei si activitatii sale (fata de clienti, furnizori, personal, presa, administratie, mediul economic, politic, social si cultural etc).

Stabilirea, mentinerea si dezvoltarea unor relatii de incredere cu aceste segmente (actiuni ce conditioneaza, practic, existenta si dezvoltarea firmei), se realizeaza printr-o varietate larga de modalitati:
