Earnings from dividends granted by companies listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) dropped in recent years to an average 2 percent yield, similar to the average yield on Western stock markets.
Last year, the average yield of dividends granted by companies listed on BVB’s main market, compared to their market capitalization, was 1.9 percent, according to a study by brokerage company Intercapital Invest. The yield was slightly higher than that in 2006, of 1.44 percent, but significantly lower than the level in 2000, of 41 percent.
Analysts expect dividend yields this year to be similar to those in 2007.
