The general importer for Iveco trucks, Iveco Romania, estimates some €450 million in sales this year, 10 percent higher year-on-year, according to the company’s General Manager, Ionut Radu, for Business Standard.
Iveco Romania, the largest truck distributor locally, aims to sell some 8,000 vehicles, about 500 more than in 2007, due to a major demand for heavy vehicles for the construction industry.
In this field, “projects worth hundreds of million euros are ongoing or planned Investors from the U.S., Europe or Israel are carrying out their investment projects very well, and in addition to reinforced concrete, cement and other construction materials, they also need the vehicles we provide,” Radu said.
Iveco’s competitors on the local market are DAF, Volvo, Renault, MAN and Scania. Sales of commercial vehicles in 2007 amounted to some 47,961 units in Romania last year, 25.3 percent higher year-on-year.
