July was the first month when the auto tax was collected by the Environment Fund and not the state budget, as previously. Korody said the ministry will grant €20 million annually from funds collected by the Environment Fund for investments in renewable energy projects.
The auto tax was established in an attempt to reduce air pollution caused by cars. The level of taxes increases depending on the engine capacity and the level of gas emissions.
