AVAS: There are car makers who want to invest in Romania

“There are talks at the level of the Prime Minister, and the government, but until such time as these are finalized, they are not available to be made public,” said Atanasiu.

He added that Ford has paid off the €27 million state subsidy set by the European Commission for the takeover last year of Automobile Craiova. AVAS’ President said that he has discussed future plans with Ford representatives, according to which the company declared it will attempt “to respect the initial deadline and hurry investments in order to ensure that the first car out of the Craiova factory doors is not delayed.”

Ford is also present in Romania through the general Romcar importer, part of Tiriac Holdings auto division.
