“We presently have some 300 job offers abroad, the majority in Germany, the United Kingdom, and Italy. We have received 8,000 applications for these jobs, most of which have been for secretarial positions,” Roxana Timofte, Public Relations (PR) representative of Bestjobs, told Business Standard.

Vacancies in Germany are mostly for medical personnel and engineers, while the United Kingdom provides jobs in hotels, restaurants, and catering (HORECA), and the United States are looking for professors.

Monthly salaries for medical personnel in Germany vary from €1.800-3.500, depending on qualifications, while a specialist can earn over €4,000. In the United Kingdom, annual salaries in the hotel field range from GBP 12,000-20,000, while monthly salaries can amount to €2,000 on cruise ships.

Bestjobs indicated that the average monthly salary on the domestic market amounts to €450 in the media sector and does not exceed €1,000 in the banking system. Moreover, the number of job offers on the Romanian market dropped by an annual 15 percent at the beginning of 2009.
