The seven Romanian refiners will receive only a little over half of the imported sugar cane they need to produce 329,000 tons of white sugar next month.
“I feel that Agrana will no longer produce sugar in Romania in one year. We will limit our activity to trade, as we will not be able to rely on traditional suppliers of raw material. As of October 2009, every producer will have to fend for himself,” said Johann Patocka, CEO of Agrana Romania.
