Multinationals send more Bulgarian managers to Romania

In the past few years, many multinational companies, especially in the field of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), have treated Romania and Bulgaria as common ground, with their head offices usually in Bucharest, and resorting to exchanging managers between the two countries. Lately however, the number of Bulgarians working in Romania has increased significantly.

“I have reasons to foresee an explosion of the presence of Bulgarians in Romania, and vice-versa, even at the middle management level,” said Rudolf Fedorovici, Senior Consultant of the Advice-HR company, which is presently conducting a study on the two neighboring countries.

Representatives of recruitment companies said that top management level relocation between Romania and Bulgaria is a common practice among multinationals, and has more to do with the short geographic distance and the level of skills than with costs. However, it is more advantageous in terms of costs to use the services of a manager from Eastern Europe than to bring one from Western Europe, recruiters added.
