“’The desktop market will most likely remain at 30 percent of the total PC market next year, but it will specialize,” said Bogdan Iftemie, Sales Manager of Acer. For this segment, experts talk about specialized PCs for games, for media solutions, etc. “I do not know how Romanian assemblers will enter these areas. It is difficult to make several types of desktops, and this is one of the reasons why local players will disappear,” added Iftemie.
Regarding the notebook segment, the company estimates sales of 600,000 units this year, a target highly dependant on sales in the fourth quarter. Acer officials expect the notebook segment to grow 40-50 percent next year, adding that thin and light notebooks will have a very good evolution. For all these markets, growth will come mostly from the consumer segment and the small and medium-sized enterprises sector.
