Romania’s No.1 lender BCR sees 21.2% higher net profit in the first nine months

The lender’s net profit reached a total of 725.8 million lei (219.6 million euros) in the January – September period. BCR’s crediting activities went up 31.8 percent in the first nine months of the year, from 24.57 billion lei in December 31, 2006 to 32.39 billion lei at the end of September.
Loans in lei had a 52.56 percent share in BCR’s portfolio. Corporate loans held a 48.7 percent share in the total credits given to clients.
Deposits from clients went up 8.8 percent, to 26.65 billion lei, in the analyzed period. BCR’s assets went up 16.4 percent in the first nine months of the year, from 47.44 billion lei in December 31, 2006 to 55.21 billion lei at the end of this year’s third quarter.
BCR’s main shareholder is the Austrian based Erste. Net consolidated profit of BCR reached an all-time high 756.3 million lei (214.5 million euros) last year.
