The trend is explained by the high share of advertising budgets, more than 65 percent in 2007, allocated to TV advertising, according to sources on the market. However, this percentage is dropping year-on-year, as 90 percent of these budgets were allocated to TV advertising, according to media management agency Initiative.
Among TV stations planning to enter the Romanian market are Movies24, Sci Fi Channel, DOQ, Hunting and Fishing Channel, Universal Channel, stations for children Jetix Play, Jim Jam and Baby TV, soccer station Sport Klub 2, educational station Da Vinci Learning, and business station Bloomberg.
Groups launching those stations are NBC Universal, HIT Entertainment, Chellomedia, Pronetis SRL, and IKO Romania. Representatives of these stations said they are confident in the potential of the Romanian market, as one of the most dynamic in the region, along with Poland.
