Last year’s air conditioner sales amounted to €65 mln, 90 percent higher than in 2006, according to the local branch of LG IT&C and household appliance producer.
Altex, the largest household appliance retailer locally, estimates a tripling of air conditioner sales, up to 65,000 units, due to high temperatures in summer and because clients have the possibility of buying units in installments. The market is estimated at 110,000 units.
The third-largest retailer in Romania, Flamingo International, registered a 60 percent increase in sales of air conditioning units in May, compared to previous months, and expects growth to amount to 90 percent this summer.
