“Aero Vodochody is interested in the auction for IAR Ghimbav, and believes that result of negotiations for Avioane Craiova will not influence the participation in another auction in Romania,” said company officials.
AVAS indicated that Aero Vodochody requested facilities incompatible with a market economy. The AVAS communique claimed that the Czech company had requested that the Romanian state guarantee that Avioane Craiova not file for bankruptcy prior to the takeover. Aero Vodochody said that such demands meet with legal practices.
The previous attempt to privatize IAR Ghimbav ended one year ago, when Eurocopter withdrew its offer. The Israeli Marcovici Capital Ltd group is also interested in IAR Ghimbav.
