Agrana Romania budgets €2 mln for advertising

One of the company’s best-known campaigns was for the company’s Margaritar sugar in 2006 “Margaritar. For You,” featuring one of Romania’s top actors.

Agrana Romania is the most important player on the local sugar market, with turnover in 2007 at €170 million. The company also sells molasses, raw sugar, sweeteners, seeds and pesticides.

In 1998 Agrana became majority shareholder of three of the most important sugar factories in Romania: Beta Tandarei, Zaharul Buzau and Danubiana Roman.
Its main competitors are Lemarco and Zaharul Oradea, the latter controlled by the German-French Cristal-Diamant group.

The company is part of the Austrian Agrana group, which in turn is part of Sudzucker Group, the largest European producer of sugar, whose annual turnover is €4.5 billion.
