Agricola Bacau recouped its losses in H1

The company’s President, Gheorghe Antochi, said Agricola estimates a 10 percent rise in turnover this year. According to Antochi, the company’s main problem in H1 2008 was a tripling in price of grain compared to the first six months in 2007.

Agricola Bacau is specialized in the raising and processing of poultry, as well as porc products, with over 65 percent of its sales coming from the former. The company resumed exports this year to EU countries such as Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland after a ban due to bird blue.

Agricola plans to produce 24,000 tons of meat this year, while its main competitor, Transavia, plans to double production to some 46,000 tons. The domestic poultry market is worth over €900 million.

Agricola Group posted turnover in excess of €110 million in 2007, of which €75 million was contributed by Agricola International. The company took over Avicola Lumina farms in Constanta County this year, to which it relocated its egg production.
