Agricover budgets 2008 turnover worth €100 mln

For 2008, Agricover is estimating turnover worth RON 360 mln (some €98 mln), due to a rise on the domestic agricultural market, the integration of the Agricover group, the development of the distribution network, and Agricover’s entry among non-banking financial companies (NBFC), according to Robert Arsene, General Manager of the group.

Of total turnover posted in 2007, the group’s distribution division, Suntory Agrochemical, contributed RON 56 mln (some €17 mln), 57 percent higher year-on-year.

Romania has 9.4 million hectares of arable land which represents 64 percent of the 14.7 mln hectares of agricultural land. Major agricultural producers are Racova Com, Agro Pan Vaslui, owned by former international referee, Adrian Porumboiu, TCE 3 Brazi, headed by Culita Tarata, Agro Chirnogi, controlled by Jihad El Khali, Comcereal Dolj, owned by Mihai Anghel, and Interagro, headed by Ioan Niculae.
