Raul Ciurtin, Albalact President, told Business Standard that many investors have shown interest in the factory, but that the final decision will be made in the General Shareholder’s Meeting in February.
“The entire dairy production will be developed in the new Oiejdea factory, whose capacity we want to expand in time to a daily 300,000 liters of processed milk,” added Ciurtin. The company is estimating turnover in 2008 at some €72 million, up 50 percent year-on-year.
Shareholders will also be voting on whether or not to list the company on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, the expansion of the new factory, and increasing investments in several cattle farms.
According to data from Cyprus-based market research company MEMRB, Albalact is market leader on the pasteurized milk market with its Zuzu brand, and Albalact butter.
The Romanian dairy products market is worth some €800 million. Main producers are Friesland, Albalact, LaDorna, Brailact and Danone, who together have 76.3 percent of the domestic milk market, according to a Nielsen study.
