“In Romania, the market growth rate was slightly lower than on other markets, but increasingly more projects are appearing in other areas than telecom. We are talking about energy, infrastructure, and border security fields that will keep growing more than telecom,” Alcatel-Lucent Romania’s President, Dan Bedros, told Business Standard.
The local Alcatel-Lucent division has been a regional coordination center as of 2006 and handles operations in 12 countries. “In the region, the most dynamic markets are Greece, where we grew some 50 percent, Kosovo, with 20 percent growth. Bulgaria is also a country moving very fast,” added Bedros.
According to Alcatel-Lucent official estimates, the company’s net sales amounted to some €187 million. Among the company’s clients are mobile service operator Orange, landline phone operator Romtelecom, electricity transportation company Transelectrica, the state-owned railway company, and the Interior Ministry.
