Regarding the number of employees, managers interviewed are forecasting layoffs all around: in industry, construction, commerce, and services. “This decline was to be expected, considering no measure was taken. Everybody is struggling to survive, but are positioning themselves at lower values. Nobody is spending on investments anymore,” the Secretary General of the Association of Romanian Businesspeople (AOAR), Cristian Parvan, said.
The INS data partially confirms a similar survey by the National Bank of Romania (BNR), published one day before, which indicated growth only in the construction sector, but limited to July. According to BNR, the industry’s outlook stabilized, after the degree of capacity use rose slightly, to 73 percent from 72 percent.
