The forecast represents a slight drop from the five percent estimated for 2008, but Dobra feels that the company can maintain its production level and profit target, due to an increase in economic sectors which will require aluminum and aluminum-based products.
Dobra said that the Romanian market will not face the same financial crisis-related problems as Western countries, because “there are still many things to be done in Romania.”
Alro will not halt production or lay off people, as other local industry companies have decided to do. Moreover, considering that demand on the aluminum market will continue unabated, Dobre said that competition to attract clients will rise.
Alro’s General Manager added that the company does not intend to revise its investment plan for next year, and investments for processed aluminum will have priority.
