100 Digit-Up units are to be launched in the next three to five years, following a €50,000 investment per store, according to Altex representatives. The network will partner with mobile operator Orange, and with Techno Bridge for landline communication, IPTV and internet.

"By the end of the year, we will open 10 units, and target 50 stores by the end of 2008," company representatives said. So far, eight stores have been developed with the Digit-Up brand in Bucharest and several other cities.

Altex posted some €77.4 million in turnover in Q3, 60 percent higher year-on-year. The company foresees €300 mln in business by the end of the year and some €6 mln in net profit.

Altex's main competitors are retailers Domo and Flamingo International, operating on a market worth some €800-900 mln in 2006.
