However, if BNR does increase the key rate, analysts say it will be by only 0.25 percent. Lucian Anghel, Chief Economist at Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR), indicated that BNR would revert to the 10 percent rate in the coming months. Anghel added that if interest rises, this will act only as a signal for the market.
Maintaining interest at its present level is anticipated due to the new modifications of lending rules. Economists say that the rules for population loans will take the place of other administrative measures.
