The demise of the current government could come true in the event that the motion of censure vote is secret, as in spite of dissatisfaction with coalition partners, neither Social Democratic Party (PSD) nor Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) parliamentarians are willing to openly sign their names to a list of supporters of the motion.

“The government has a 50-50 chance, if the motion is submitted,” said political analyst Iosif Boda. “The only option for eliminating Boc is a PNL motion, supported by UDMR and PSD,” said analyst Bogdan Teodorescu. The importance of UDMR in this game is rising, as it was unsuccessful in imposing conditions demanded by the Hungarian minority in the three law packages submitted to Parliament. UDMR’s President Marko Bela declared yesterday for Business Standard that his party “had not yet analyzed all the texts of the laws, as it received these late.” At the close of the print edition, the UDMR source, quoted by NewsIn, declared that there is a 90 percent chance that the Union’s lawmakers will vote in favor of the motion of censure, at least in connection with the Law on Education. UDMR President’s also indicated that, based on information he had received, the UDMR amendments to the education law had not been adopted. There is also dissatisfaction in connection with the salary issue and the agencies [Ed. n. those to be eliminated]; we shall see,” added Bela.
