“The personnel fluctuation is very high in the case of counsellors. People stay a few months and then find an employer privately,” according to a declaration for Business Standard by Eugen Preda, ANOFM Manager.
In the first eight months of 2009, every ANOFM employee was successful in finding a job for a single unemployed person per month. According to Preda, unemployment could reach 8 percent by the end of 2009 and will continue to rise through the first three months in 2010.
The ANOFM official added that unemployment has risen for 14 consecutive months, and explained that it takes about 50 working Romanians to ensure the unemployment benefit of one jobless person, given the very low unemployment contributions.
Another worrisome phenomenon refers to the shifting in the ratio between unemployed who receive benefits and those who do not. While this ratio was 30 to 70 percent in May 2008, with most jobless people not receiving unemployment benefits, the ratio has now changed to 55 to 45 percent. Those least affected by the economic crisis are unskilled workers, who do not insist on high salaries.
