Another change in Smithfield Romania's top management: Mircea Cotosman

Cotosman confirmed for Business Standard that he is no longer working for Smithfield, but indicated that he “continue to be in touch with representatives of the American company, and be at their disposal.” He is planning to go to the US in August to continue his studies. Mircea Cotosman was Vice President of the Romanian Pork Meat Employers Union.

According to market sources, Smithfield changed top management due to poor financial results in 2007, following the sacrificing of 53,000 pigs in Timis County due to swine fever.

Smithfield named Bogdan Mihail as General Manager of Smithfield Ferme early this week. Mihail replaces Raymond Vidal. The US company also owns Smithfield Procesare in Romania, specialized in producing and selling pork products, whose General Manager is Morten Jensen, also CEO of the US company for Central and Eastern Europe.

Smithfield Foods Inc is the world’s largest pork processor.
