Moreover, the program which the company applied as of mid-2008 in order to cut costs, together with the upward adjustment of domestic production medication prices, resulted in a 43 percent annual increase in profit, to RON 10 mln (some €2.4 mln). The company’s gross profit surged 55 percent, to RON 13 mln (approximately €3.1 mln).
Sales on the local market jumped 13.4 percent, to RON 46.4 mln (some €11 mln), the highest value in the past three years. The increase was also due to a drop in stocks, as sales of drug stores to patients soared 26 percent compared to the first three months of 2008.
Antibiotice Iasi exported medicines worth RON 11.07 mln (some €2.64 mln), while the share of exports in total net sales amounted to 20 percent in the first quarter of 2009 compared to 12 percent and 6 percent in 2008 and 2007, respectively.
