Astra Vagoane Calatori targeting €60 mln in turnover in 2008

Ovidiu Bologea, External Relations Advisor, told Business Standard that the company currently produces train cars in association with an Iranian company. Astra Vagoane Calatori is engaged in talks to establish a partnership for production of cars in another Asian country. Exports to European and Middle Eastern countries make up 40-45 percent of turnover.

Bologea says that profit will increase by 10 percent in 2008, and that the company will invest €3 mln to buy new technologies and expand current capacity.

Astra’s main partners in 2008 are CFR Calatori (passenger division of Romania’s national railroad company, CFR), RAJA and Siemens.

Astra Vagoane Calatori will supply CFR Calatori with 34 new high-speed train cars worth €33 mln. The company plans to further expand on foreign markets.
