“We have not felt any of the effects of the crisis. In fact, I believe that in Romania there is more of a psychological crisis, which is affecting consumer trust. That is why many companies are taking preventive measures even though they do not have problems yet,” said Regis Mougel, General Manager of Auchan Romania.
According to Mougel, foodstuffs will continue to sell well at Auchan, while the sale of home appliances will have a downward trend, after they have already registered a significant drop.
The company’s General Manager said that Auchan will continue to open stores and operate in as many Romanian cities as possible. The network currently has six hypermarkets and one supermarket.
