Auchan entered the Romanian market in 2006 and invested over €300 mln in five hypermarkets. The company posted turnover worth €137 mln in 2007, compared to €19 mln year-on-year. The Auchan Romania network is being developed by MGV Distri-Hiper, in which the French group owns 29 percent of shares. The remaining shares belong to Romanian partners.
