“Although salaries rose this year, especially for workers, and management positions registered a mere 2 percent annual salary increase, the gap between worker and top management wages is still wide. The average gross salary for a general manager of a medium-sized company is €8,700, while a non-skilled worker earns an average €350,” according to Oana Botolan Datki, Country Manager of Consulteam, the local partner of Mercer HR consulting company.
According to the “Total Remuneration Survey” by Mercer, factory managers had the most significant salary growth - up to 18 percent, followed by quality managers (17 percent) and logistics managers (16.4 percent). Furthermore, sales managers benefitted from wage rises of up to 16 percent, while marketing managers earned 14 percent more.
The Mercer study shows that sales managers in Romania earn some 15 percent more than their counterparts in the Czech Republic and 50 percent more than Bulgarian sales managers.
A survey by Hill International consulting company shows that sales managers in the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) segment are better paid than their counterparts in neighboring countries. In Romania, a FMCG sales manager earns an average gross wage worth €3,600-5,800, compared to €2,000-€4,000 in Slovakia, and €2,400-€5,000 in the Czech Republic, according to Hill Romania’s Business Unit Manager, Anca Raican.
