Average value of online orders down 50%

Company representatives say that the hardest-hit products are large electronic and household appliances, especially the more expensive ones, as consumers are shifting to cheaper, less sophisticated products. Furthermore, the ratio of orders in terms of total visits has declined.

“The average order value remained at some RON 600 (€141) in the past six months. However, compared to the first quarter of 2008, the value is significantly lower, dropping from RON 800 (€188) to RON 600,” according to Mugur Frunzetti, Managing Partner of Grifon Group company, which owns marketonline.ro.

For cel.ro online store, the average order value dropped 13 percent, according to officials of Corsar Grup, which controls the website. “Given that we have not yet hit bottom, we feel that the value will decline further by several percent. People will hold on more to their money and not spend this so easily. Sales will continue for products that are really needed by customers,” Corsar Grup CEO, Tiberiu Pop, said.
