The number of passengers on the International Aurel Vlaicu Airport, based in the Baneasa area (northern Bucharest) doubled year-on-year in 2008, to 1.8 million people, while flights increased by 70 percent, according to the airport General Manager, Stefan Mladin.
"This is an outstanding increase in the number of passengers. If I compare it to 2006, when we had 600,000 passengers, the number of those who transited the airport tripled. Plus, given the Aurel Vlaicu airport capacity, we can say that this is a record," Mladin said. (NewsIn)
