The average gross salary in the banking system is 107 percent higher compared to the average gross salary in Romania, which means banks employees receive some €1,013. Pharmaceutical companies reported an average gross salary of €935, some 91 percent higher against the national average.
IT&C employees earn an average salary of €895. Personnel in the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) segment earn 8 percent less compared to the average salary in Romania, while employees in retail earn 24 percent less than the national average. “In IT, banking and pharmaceutical industry, there are more employees with university degrees. Five FMCG managers coordinate 2,000 cashiers, while one bank manager coordinates the same amount of employees,” says PwC Romania manager Ruxandra Stoian.
