“A bank is advanced, in terms of services, when the client does not have to come to the bank very often. Also, any branch generates expenses for the bank. I believe that, in future, lenders will have branches only in those areas where interest is high, especially on the corporate segment. Besides that, internet banking services will continue to gain ground, because processing transactions is easier, less expensive, and much more efficient both for the client and the bank,” Marinel Burduja, First Vice President of Raiffeisen Bank, said.
Aware of the advantages that these services bring in terms of expenses and queues in front of the tellers, banks have diversified their offers, and even have promotions for those who choose internet banking.
BCR, Romania’s largest bank, offers a discount of 75 percent for interbank transfers through the Click 24Banking BCR service compared to over-the-counter operations.
“Banks have refined their range of internet banking services, but their penetration rate continues to be low in Romania, compared to other countries in the region. Young people are increasingly more interested in using these banking products, especially with the expansion of internet services,” Gabriela Nistor, Chief Executive Officer of Banca Transilvania, said.
