BCG: Advisory services are immune to crisis

“The advisory service area is one that is very little affected generally by crises. When a market is growing, companies require advice on HR, training or business optimization, while in crisis situations, the market is in particular need of restructuring advice,” said Peter Jansen, Managing Partner of Bucharest Consulting Group management advisory company, local partner of US-based Boston Consulting Group. 

In the current financial crisis, one of the advisory segments with an important increase on emerging markets is due diligence and assistance for mergers and acquisitions. According to analysts, difficulties for financing on mature markets and diminished appetite for risk, attract private equity and strategic investors to emerging markets. 

Ioana Filipescu, Managing Director of Raiffeisen Investment Romania, said that investors are drawn by good yields, because not many global transactions are left.
