According to results published by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the number of approved projects within the six operational programs increased significantly to 249 projects, worth €2.08 billion, of which €1.77 bln are non- refundable.
“The major interest shown by private investors and state educational and local administration institutions in European funds is noteworthy, especially since we estimate that good absorption of these funds could generate an additional 15-20 percent economic increase in the 2007-2013 period,” shows the analysis.
Romania will receive €30 bln by 2013 from the European Union, mainly for rural development and infrastructure. According to analysts, the absorption of European funds could promote national currency stability.
