BCR to keep on 500 surplus employees this year

BCR will have 8,700 employees by the end of the year, compared to the initial estimate of 8,200. “We decided not to externalize cash transport services, because supply on this segment is weak in Romania,” said Treichl.

A strong economic increase in the first half of 2008 has also contributed to BCR posting good financial results. Treichl estimates that the Romanian economy will increase over 7 percent by the end of the year.

BCR assets rose 1.8 percent in June, to RON 60.7 billion (€16.7 bln), but stagnated compared to the first quarter, according to financial reports. At the end of 2007, the bank’s assets totaled RON 59.6 bln (€16.5 bln). 

Loans advanced 10.4 percent in the first six months, to RON 40.73 bln (€11.2 million), 44 percent higher than in H1 2007. (NewsIn)
