CWP lawyers in Romania say the deal took two years to prepare. Claudiu Munteanu Jipescu, Managing Counsel at Salans Romania, the law firm that represented CWP in Romania, indicated that the transaction was very complex and involved obtaining some 100 authorizations.
This deal brought in some 25 percent of Salans’ turnover. E.ON, Enel, Iberdrola, Gaz de France and Petrom were also interested in the wind project. CEZ was represented by Tuca Zbarcea si Asociatii law firm. Partner Sorin Vladescu said that many legal aspects were highly technical, but the firm worked well with the representatives of the sellers. Vladescu added that this is the first major wind project in Romania, and involved elements of real estate, company and environmental law.
Alina Stancu, of Linklaters, which also represented CWP, also said that the transaction was a difficult one, but that the parties wanted to solve the matter rapidly, which made the process easier.
