BenQ could revise sales downward in Romania

“The price of oil has reached $140 a barrel, and is continually rising. This will lead to a 10-15 percent increase in production costs, which could be compensated by a rise in sold volumes. However, because this is a recession, period this is highly unlikely,” said Mike Borze, BenQ Managing Director for Central and Eastern Europe.

The LCD monitor segment made up the highest ratio of total BenQ Romania sales, with some 25,000 units sold in Q1 2008. “We had a market share of 13.3 percent on the LCD monitor segment, ranking second, which is not a satisfactory result,” said Borze.

Sales in Romania rank second in Central and Eastern Europe, following Poland, and with a ratio of 18 percent, a considerable advance over past years.
