Bestjobs: Job applications exceed supply fivefold

“In January 2009, we registered a 4.8 percent increase in the number of applications compared to active offers on the site, and in February, the number of applications was 5.5 percent higher than announcements available on our site,” Roxana Timofte, Public Relations representative of Bestjobs, told Business Standard.

The Managing Partner of the Lugera&Makler recruiting company, Cristina Savuica, said that most of the applicants are young graduates and persons who have been laid off, as well as company managers whose positions are unstable.

Most job offers were in sales, trade, and the software and IT engineering sectors. Unlike last year, job offers in the financial sector dropped significantly. Most vacancies were registered in Bucharest, Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca, and Iasi.
