“We are trying to attract collaboration from one of these large producers to make a tramcar model, which we will recommend in major Romanian cities. Thus, our costs would be some 50 percent lower than if we build this from our own sources,” Blidar told Business Standard.
Blidar added that he has already prepared a rather “complex” project to present to an internationally-known partner. “We are interested in obtaining a lower sale price, to gain an advantage compared over our competitors,” the businessman said.
At the end of 2008, Blidar indicated that, based on his technology and space, he can produce 25-50 trams annually, with 2-3 cars. According to market data, a tram produced by major European producers costs some €2.8 million.
The company could register stagnation in turnover this year, or a slight increase in net sales, at RON 200-210 mln (€46.63-48.96 mln), mainly due to the crisis. The firm is the only one in Romania that produces passenger railway cars, with the capacity of reaching a speed of 200 km per hour.
