Racaru, who has been running Blue Air since its establishment in 2004, is the new Strategy and Development Manager of the holding owned by Iordache, which includes six companies.
“The project of reuniting the companies in a holding is an idea the owner had one, one and a half years ago. The purpose of reuniting the companies is to raise the activity efficiency and cut costs. However, this is not an anti-crisis measure, and we are counting on raising revenues for all companies in the group,” Racaru said yesterday.
The new General Manager of Blue Air, leader of the Romanian low-cost market, is Adrian Ionascu, former Head of Service of the Tarom airline. According to Ionascu, Blue Air’s strategy targets maintaining the leading position on the low-cost market and owning 25 aircrafts within five years. Blue Air is the first low-cost company on the local market with fully domestic capital.
The operator transported 201,000 passengers in the first three months of this year, up 10.43 percent year-on-year. For 2009, Blue Air forecasts a total 1.7 million passengers. The company’s net sales amounted to €124.13 million in 2008 and estimates €170 mln for 2009.
