BMW Romania took over import operations for BMW and Mini, although its former importer, Automobile Bavaria, still serves as dealer for the two brands.

BMW’s main competitors on the local market are the Audi (imported by Porsche Romania) and Mercedes-Benz (imported by Daimler Automotive Romania) brands.

Imports of new cars rose some 49 percent last year, to more than 204,700 units.
