The RON 1.58 billion attracted two weeks ago by BNR made it onto the market on Monday including RON 403 mln from banks, at 7.50 percent interest.
“The banks did not go to auction on Monday with all their lei as they had payments to make and taxes to pay for their customers,” according to a statement for NewsIn by a bank dealer.
In an attempt to keep liquidities under control, the central bank organized surprise auctions on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday attracting a total of RON 5.83 billion in deposits due in one or two days. BNR took this measure when interbank interest was down to an annual 2-3 percent in overnight deposits.
