"I am interested in buying and I even made an offer to [major shareholder] Strabag almost one year ago, but I have not received any answer by now," Taher said.

Bostina and Asociatii, one of the top law firms in Romania, will prepare the preliminary documents for negotiations, arrange the discussions regarding basic transaction terms and evaluate the judicial options to close the transaction.

"We will explore all options, so the negotiations can have positive results. We have mandates to negotiate with Strabag and Bank of Cyprus and all parts interested in this transaction," said coordinating lawyer Dinu Bostina.

Fahti Taher currently owns 19 percent of JW Marriott Bucharest. Bau Holding Strabag owns a further 55 percent, while Bank of Cyprus is also a shareholder through ONT Carpati company which it controls.
