BRD SocGen posted a 40 percent increase in profit in 2007

These results impacted positively on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) BET index of the ten most liquid companies, where BRD has a 19.6 percent ratio, up 3.32 percent. Investors bought 30,000 shares worth €150,000 in the first 5 minutes of trading.

BRD increased 5.56 percent at the close of session. “It is possible that these increases will continue, but it all depends on the US stock exchange,” said Florin Ilie, Capital Markets Manager of ING Romania.

Petrom shares increased 5.25 percent, while national gas transportation company Transgaz shares rose 2.08 percent.

BCR, the main competitor of BRD, had 30 percent less profit, of some €190 million, due to restructuring.
