The producer is not yet considering opening a production unit in this country, according to a company press release. Bridgestone Europe will simultaneously open its own points of sale in Slovakia and Estonia.
“Our sales in Romania, Slovakia, and in the Baltic countries have risen significantly in the past few years. Now is the time to get closer to these markets, strengthen our presence there, and offer better services to our end users,” said Gerry Duffy, Bridgestone Europe Vice President of Marketing and Sales.
Bridgestone thus joins main international producers already active on the Romanian market, such as Pirelli, Continental AG, Goodyear Dunlop Tire, and Michelin. Of these, only Goodyear Dunlop does not have a production unit in Romania.
The Romanian after sales tire market is expected to rise 5-10 percent yearly, to 2010, according to main companies in this country, from 2.5 million units in 2007.
